January 2024. How Did That Happen?

Well it’s been a while since I put anything on this site.

Time going faster as I get older definitely seems to be a thing.

It always seems to be that I start to write when I’m away from home. I’m never quite sure how the words or the format of the page will progress but as I write the following story comes to mind.

A king was out riding one day and he rode into the local village where he saw a boy begging at the side of the road.

The King asked the boy where were his parents and family and the boy said they were all gone.

Taking pity on the boy he lifted him up on to his horse and together they rode back to the palace.

As time passed by the boy grew into a man and his simple wisdom and intelligence meant that he progressed to be the Kings Senior Advisor.

Others at the palace became jealous and whispered to the King about his Advisor and how every night he disappeared into a high tower room and locked himself in there.

They told the King things like he must be stealing from you and hiding the treasure in a large trunk that was in the tower room.

Eventually the King began to believe the stories and so one night he followed the Advisor as he went up to the tower room and knocked on the door demanding to be let in.

The Advisor humbly opened the door and the King came in to the tower room.

The room was empty except for a large trunk in the centre of the room.

“Open it” the King demanded but the Advisor said the contents were not fit for a King to see.

This only made the King more suspicious and he ordered the Advisor to open the trunk.

The Advisor pleaded with the King to no avail and eventually opened the trunk to reveal some simple rag clothing.

The King was confused and asked the Advisor to explain.

”Oh great King, when you first found me these were the clothes I was wearing and every night I come here to look at them to remind me that without your kindness this is all I have and everything I am is because of you”.

Gimme Love.

One of my current favourites. I love the voice and it makes me dance
